Can a 17year old get kit car insurance?

I’m 17 and thinking of getting an old mini and doing it up, I’m not sure if I can get kit car insurance, I have no points on my licence and if I could get one does anyone know how much it will be?

Thanks:)

Providing there are no circumstances that prevent you from holding insurance then of course you can.

An old mini will not be classed as a kit car for insurance reasons.

Even if you bung a 3.5 Rover V8 in the back it will still be a mini. A car gets classed as special build/ kit car if you have modified the chassis drastically. Engine swaps etc don’t normally alter a production car to kit car status.

It all depends what you had in mind. A quick call to a kit car specialist insurer such as Adrian S Flux will soon tell you.
